The point of no return.

Are innovation and technological development at the
service of people and environment ?
In the last decades the Earth has dealt with different issues such as terrorism, corruption, racism and others that threatened to undermine world peace and human being welfare. But first and foremost, global warming is by far the greatest global challenge facing the world throughout the years.
The technological revolution truly led to a tremendous increase in the consumption of natural resources as well as the waste of giant industries began to contaminate the environment. The more we produce, the more we pollute. Undoubtedly the rising levels of greenhouse gases are the root cause of the global warming. Its effects in long-term are really severe: changes in the global climate, rising sea levels and, plant and animal species becoming extinct among others.
Steadily several governments and international organizations have failed attempts to tackle environmental problems due to the fact that if it is difficult to deal with these problems within your own country let alone to make a worldwide commitment. If human beings had given priority to environmental issues and had made an effort to preserve and restore the natural balance it would have made a difference.
Up to this point, the impact on nature has reached such a bleak level that we are doomed to move somewhere else: harsh climate that ranges from droughts to flash floods, ecosystems getting destroyed, unhealthy air, poisoned water, widespread of diseases, famine, people rendering homeless and so on.
To conclude, I really do hope technology will make it easy for us to find a new place to start from scratch.
